Empty Envelopes
On Friday Im bailing the Canaries and heading home to my family and friends. The last few days have been nothing short of special and I shared times I will never forget. Im excited for the coming year as it always brings new challenges, experiences, feelings and best of all a fresh start.
Il be spending NYE on a plane, probably somewhere above Germany and then atleast the 1st half of January at...
Christmas Cheer!
Merry Xmas from the Canary Islands! tyring my best not to sound repetitive but I have to stress just how much of a good time im having here. Last night after and epic day surfing Fronton alone with Elliot Morales (Local young gun SHRED HEAD) I was treated to a MASSIVE christmas feast with Eric at Ale’s parents house before celebrating Xmas eve Canarian style in Las Palmas. Good times for...
A slick edit of the best waves during the Fronton waiting period featuring all of the 16 riders! Enjoy!
The Movement Photo Annual 2010 has been released! My review is better than this guys so im telling you too go to www.movementmag.com to purchase it. Cobus Bosman shot an image of me at the Horn back in September that has been printed over 2 pages, an achievement for both of us! Would make a lovely late Chrissy present!
Jeff Wins Fronton!
Its never a bad feeling when the person who knocks you out of competition goes on to win the whole event! Jeff has always been an idol of mine and it was so sick to see him come off an injury like the one he sustained and win.
The dream ended early for this time. I put this down to many things, a culmination of sorts. I did the best I could on the waves I had and I like to think had the...
Sophistication
Nic De Jesus has been staying with me at the competitors zone in Galdar for the last few days and has been snapping off some pretty cool shots when the light and surf permits! Hopefully over the next few days God smiles on us and we nail a cover haha!
Last night we hit up this Photography exhibition in Las Palmas featuring 5 local artists. I was pleasantly surprised to find that 90% of the...
Bring on the blood!
So the contest has been called for Monday the 20th of December. On thursday evening we had a meeting to discuss safety measures aswell the setup and running schedule of the event, everyone just seemed to be in this ultra focussed zone and I left the building feeling super amped for this special event. I think monday might be the biggest day of my life thus far and I (im sure along with a few...
Stumbled across this old clip on the net this morning, from my trip to brazil in April 2010. We surfed this fun wedge everyday for a week and Kingy, Lilly and I thought we were living the dream. Fast forward 2 days and all 3 of us are living in the toilet in between trips to the hospital for fluids. Either way this wave was fun but I doubt id ever surf there again!
On the subject of clips, head...
Day of days.
The one no-one (mags) wanted! Weird how this year I have over 12 pages in Riptide magazine and almost 20 in international mags combined but 5 in Sixty40, dont know what else I or Cobus Bosman who shot this photo can really do?
Anyway, heres to the Horn, to Cobus, to the heaviest wave in Africa. Day of days September 2010.
The waiting game.
So its been 3 days since fronton has been above 3ft, I have since moved into a competitors zone in Galdar (the town where Fronton lies). The place is cool because all the boys are here from the comp and we have a swimming pool and gym downstairs, but I miss my friends I was staying with in Las Palmas. Had such a good time with them! I have done 4 or 5 memorable things over the past few days...
This is a video edited by The Drift porductions (the man behind WITHIN) of the promo the Turbo team riders did at LINKstore in Las Palmas 2 weeks ago. Pretty sick little clip and definitly worth the watch. Enjoy
Could Fronton be the most Progressive wave in the...
Since I’ve been here I have seen probbaly six completed Inv-rev’s, countless attempts and even a Double Backflip attempt from PLC. Move over Hawaii. Fronton is here. Framegrabs of me from the first day of the waiting period, courtesy of Eric Schnitzler!

Fronfreakington
The wait for Fronton has begun! All of the competitors are in Galdar and eagerly awaiting that day when Fronton shows us why she is the best wave in the world! The past 2 days have been pretty freaking fun (although incredibly crowded) at Fronton and when I havent been cruising with good people I have been out the practicing for the biggest event ever. Everyone is ripping and I just feel so...
LE BOOGIE #6
Stoked as with this DPS in the brand new issue of Le Boogie magazine now out in Australia! Le boogs is the most aesthetically pleasing mag around, congrats to phil Gallagher and his team on that one. Mitch Pearson took the invert shot in South Australia in July this year and my mate Simon Heale took the profile shortly before I left for the Canary Islands! WOOOO!
2010.
In 2010 Turbo bodyboards put alot of money into nurturing me into a professional rider, last night at the IBA awards ceremony I felt a part of something really special (bodyboarding) and also that I might have done them proud!
I was awarded the 2010 IBA rookie of the year aswell as a 10th place on the IBA world tour for 2010. This means that I have qaulified for next years GSS(Global Super...
Our boetie wins Confital!
This is now common knowledge, but it doesnt change the fact that the guy sitting atop his friends shoulders yesterday celebrated his first ever Grandslam win and in doing so soared up the IBA rankings to qaulify for the 2011 GSS( GLOBAL SUPER SERIES)!This couldnt have come at a better time for boet, its been a slow year for him but yesterday he proved once again that he is one of the best...
This the teaser for WITHIN. My friend Eric who I have been staying and filming with over the past few weeks released this earlier this year. The film completely blew me away, as if the mindblowing surfing from all the unknown Tahitian and Canarian crew wasnt enough, this film features the BEST point of vision footage I have ever seen. You literally feel as if your in the barrel. I’ve added...
Turbo Team at LINK store.
Last night Yeray Martinez, Salomon Moore, Jacob Romero, Jones Russel and I did a Turbo promo at Danny Hernandez’s store LINK in Las Palmas.
